Scrapbooking with the Scraptastic February Kit- Part 3

Today I'm sharing two more layouts I made using the February Scraptastic Feel Again kit and add on. This month I also purchased the coordinating stamp set, and I'm really enjoying it.
Here's the first layout-

One of the things I love about working with a kit, is that because there's a limited amount of supplies, they can really shine. What I mean is, that I find it much easier to base a layout on a few chosen pieces, like the die cut frames here. They are from the Valentine's Fancy Pants collection, Be Loved. That heart patterned paper (also from the Be Loved collection) is one of my favorites this month, so I really wanted it to show.

Once I decided on the design everything was pretty simple. I chose three photos I had, that were kinda random, but all together gave a general impression of my daughter around our apartment at the time (she's about 1 in these pics). She was so small then... My husband and I are apparently kinda slow sometimes, and we just can't get over this whole thing, of having a child... Like one day you're back from the hospital with a new person, and it's there to stay all the time, calling pretty much all the shots... On one hand she belongs to you, she has your nose and her fathers mouth, but she's also separate, her own person. Weird. Did I say we were a bit slow? She's 4 and a half now and we're still surprised:) Back to scrapbooking now!

As you can see in the photo, the die cuts by Fancy Pants that came in the kit have this really great texture.

This month's cardstock was interesting. The main kit comes with 6 sheets of cardstock, in 3 colors, so 2 of each.  This month the colors were pink, bright teal, and that great shade of stony warm grey that I used on the first layout. Pink is never a problem for me, and the teal was just not working for me this month. But that grey was a new shade for me, and I thought it was a really interesting color to work with.
Here's the second layout-

I find that I make more and more layouts that have a frame these days. It just makes the page look more finished. The 12*12 paper I used here is by Studio Calico, from the Atlantic collection. Again I used some of those die cuts by Fancy Pants and another frame (also from the Be Loved collection), this time I used patterned paper with it to create a sort of embellishment.

I think I almost never use cardstock as background without adding something to it, like stamping or misting. Here I used the Feel Again stamp set and some grey ink.

The photo is of my daughter, my mom and me. The journaling is about mothers and daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters. We have a long tradition of very close relationships between all these women and generations, something I truly cherish, and hope I can have with my own daughter.
On Friday I'll be sharing a layout I made using some new Dear Lizzy products from the Daydreamer collection. I'm also looking (impatiently) forward to receiving the March Scraptastic kit, it's full of Amy Tan's new collection, Plus One. That will hopefully happen in the next couple of weeks. Since I pretty much killed the February kit, that gives me some time to play with my 6*6 paper pads, my March Focus chosen product.
Thanks for visiting!

  1. You will still be surprise when your daughter will outgrow you... My oldest is 12, and she's taller than me by an inch. When did that happen ? She was so tiny day 1 my father-in-law could hold her in one hand !
Lovely layout and great choice of pastel colors !

  4. Both fantastic. I love the design of the first and the background of the 2nd. I tend to frame also because I like the "finished" look.
