January Focus- Stamping with Mists

Here's a fun thing to try with mists- stamping!
My tip for this technique is to make sure the nozzle works properly. If your mist spits out big droplets, you risk making a mess. I probably wouldn't do this type of stamping directly on my background, because it's a bit risky. I stamped my images on white cardstock and then cut them and added them to my page.
Here's the finished layout-

I really love this photo of my daughter, my best friend and me at the MQ (Museums Quarter) in Vienna. My best friend lives in Minnesota, and she and her husband came last spring to visit us in Austria. We met in high school when we were 15, in small town Haifa, Israel. I don't think we had any idea where life would bring us, turns out it was USA and Austria... Life is funny that way:) We try to make the best of it, and we had the best time, as always.
Anyway, that cute camera on the right side of the photo is from a stamp set by Tim Holtz. I stamped a few images with different Mr. Huey's-

I really like the result. It gives this watercolor slightly messy effect. As I wrote in the beginning, make sure your mist works properly and mist the stamp from about 15cm away, to get light even coverage. The camera is stamped with the silver Mr. Huey's and it looks really beautiful in reality (it's much more shimmery!).

I went with a very neutral muted color scheme, that I thought complimented the photo, with pops of pink. The background paper is an older MME wood grain. The paper behind the photo is from Studio Calico Printshop collection. The collection is gorgeous and filled with bright colors, but it  also has some great more neutral designs, like this chevron paper. The other side is a beautiful floral. The other patterned papers came from my scraps, always a good source for additional layers. I used a rub-on from Amy Tangerine Cut&Paste collection as the title, and decided to use it directly on the photo.

For the final touches I used a resin bow also from Amy Tangerine, a fabric bow from the Maggie Holmes signature collection for Crate Paper, enamel dots and some ink splatters from the same silver Mr. Huey's I stamped with.
I really hope this inspires you to try this with your stamps and mists, this could also be a great way to create a background with some background stamps, really, there are so many possibilities.
Thanks for visiting!
